The podcast made for the ghouls next door who love dark fiction.
Created by Nailah King, an indie, crime & horror author, she hosts interviews, in-depth round table discussions, genre deep dives, and a behind-the-scenes looks at her own writing, all delivered with her signature unserious vibe. Each episode highlights our creativity in an industry that often excludes us. Tune in weekly for conversations with BIPOC authors and celebrate their stories as we collectively build our own table.
The show is by and for BIPOC writers and readers and non-BIPOC listeners who act as accomplices and show up meaningfully for our community. The tone of the show is generally light-hearted and positive, but does not shy away from discussing and unpacking the systemic barriers, double standards, or any general critiques of the publishing industry especially in the horror, thriller and crime genres. If you love reading diverse dark fiction, amplifying BIPOC authors, and enjoy a laugh, Talk Your Lit Podcast is for you.
As a host, I generally avoid cursing, but my guests are invited to speak freely and that can include strong language and curse words. The episodes where cursing are included are marked as "Explicit," but generally given the dark themes of horror, crime and thriller, this show is for 18+ listeners.
Full transcripts (.vtt format) are available in each episode
Show notes that summarize the episode are available in each episode
Content and Trigger Warnings are used and included in the show notes as needed
Yes. There is no external media company or corporation involved with this show. I manage all aspects of the production process from selecting guests, to interviewing them, editing and uploading episodes, and promoting and marketing them. This allows me to provide a braver space for authors and not have to cater to corporate interests and maintain the integrity of my mission which is have a space for BIPOC writers to talk about their work without having to over explain, making it palatable or more accessible to non-BIPOC audiences.
This work is important and a labour of love, but in order for these spaces to continue to thrive please support the show.
Each season will have ten episodes and releases are split in two, five episode release drops.
